This weekend, stars align for a witty auteur. Pour yourself a (Saturday) cup of ambition, and RSVP to see celebrities pay homage to the man behind several iconic Hollywood comedies. On May 25, the 2022 documentary feature ‘Celebrating Laughter: The Life and Films of Colin Higgins’ enjoys a free-of-charge retrospective screening as the 12th installment of Kat Kramer’s Films That Change The World live series. Historic Nuart Theatre warmly welcomes guests via a red carpet reception and closes with a Kramer-moderated Q and A. The event simultaneously honors late actor Dabney Coleman, star of the Higgins classic ‘9 to 5.’

A pre-recorded Dolly Parton video tribute to Higgins kicks off the afternoon program. Parton — ‘9 to 5’ and ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’ star — is honorary executive producer of ‘Celebrating Laughter.’ Parton claims that Colin Higgins was her ‘first and favorite director.’

Cybill Shepherd narrates ‘Celebrating Laughter,’ which features interviews with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Parton, MacLaine, Goldie Hawn, Dudley Moore, Gene Widler, Charles Durning, Dom Deluise, Bud Cort, Cat Stevens, Arthur Hiller, and Higgins himself.
